1968 Cougar XR7 Project

1968 Cougar XR7...302-4V/C4/PS/PDB/Tilt.  All original but now missing radio and clock (thanks to the homeless who frequented where the car was stored!!!).  All there, great rust free California body, needs it all...brakes, drivetrain, interior.  Body requires very, very little just paint your favorite color.

Hasn't run since February 05, but drove off the truck to the parking space.

Price is $3250 firm.

Has Eleanor styled wheels and brand new radials on it at the moment.  These are NOT included in the price.  I will put steel rims/rollers on the car unless you like the look of these "Unique" wheels and we can negotiate the price accordingly.

Thanks for looking.

Re: 1968 Cougar XR7 Project

Hey there. I'm looking to by a '68 XR7 just like yours... same color and all. I am very interested in this car, but I do have a question about it. You said it's all orginal, 302-4V/C4/PS/PDB/Tilt, and that it's "all there", but then you followed with "... needs it all... brakes, drivetrain, interior." Do you simply mean that it's there but completely shot and needing replacement?

Re: 1968 Cougar XR7 Project

Yes they need work, all systems.  Shot?  Too strong a term.  Here is my assessment of the mechanicals of the car:

Suspension...needs bushings, possibly tie rod ends...I'd just go through it completely.

Brakes...needs new master cylinder, then see if it needs new pads/shoes.

Engine...ran, albeit not well tuned.  I would recommend running it and seeing what you want to do to it.  It gives no indication that it has ever been removed from the car.

Trans...shifted, but I'm sure since it's sat for almost two years that the seals are shot by this time.

Interior is typical...pics show it's condition.  Certainly needs seats and rear seatback redone.

As of today, the car is still available, so if interested contact me.

Hope you all had a merry Christmas and will have a Happy New Year.

Re: 1968 Cougar XR7 Project

Well, it definately sounds worth it to me. Thanks for the quick reply, by the way. I'm still interested in the car, but I'm trying to get a quote on how much the freight is going to cost me and I just need to know what city you're located in to find out. That's about all I need before I make my final decision. And I hope you had a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to come, as well.

And actually, before I forget, do you have any pictures of the undercarriage of the car? Front/middle/back would be great. Thanks!
